San Miguel Consolidated Fire Protection District is one of the largest Fire Districts in San Diego County, formed on July 1, 1988 through a merger of the Spring Valley and Grossmont/Mt. Helix Fire Protection Districts, and again on July 3, 2008 with the East County Fire Protection District. The District serves nearly 140,000 residents in the communities of Bostonia, Casa de Oro, Crest, Grossmont/Mt. Helix, La Presa, Rancho San Diego, Spring Valley and the unincorporated areas of El Cajon and La Mesa.

San Miguel’s 80 full-time employees provide suppression, prevention and emergency medical services, averaging around 15,000 fire and medical-related emergencies annually.

Crews respond to a wide variety of calls covering various commercial and industrial operations, single-family residences, large multi-unit apartments and condominium projects, and an extensive urban/wildland interface area.
